The Question List is a very powerful feature which allows you to set up quantities for many standard questions (think of them as calculator memories with names). When a Question Code is placed in a Price Book or Bid Item, the value associated with the Question will be placed in that Item's Bid Item Quantity.

Question answers (values) are Bid-specific (saved in each Bid for later recall) but the names are included in the Price Book so they can to be used by every Bid. There are two ways to use Questions after you have entered questions and answers in the Question List.

One, enter a name in the Bid Item Quantity column, and the value will be transferred from the Question List to the Quantity. Two, enter as many answers to the dimensional questions as possible before selecting the items and then go to the Price Book Item List, tag many items and the Use (pullback) the items. While they are still tagged in the Bid Item List, open the Question List, and all the dimensional questions will be displayed with their values waiting for your approval or change. Change some then click the Right Mouse Button and select "Use". All the answers will be placed in the appropriate items by their question codes.

Note: Tagging in this List has NO effect on what is pulled back into the Items. You must tag the Items you want changed by the Questions' values first before coming into this List. Tags in this List are only used to report certain questions, or to change many Questions to one value by tagging several Questions, move to the quantity column then to the Tag Menu and selecting "Change".

Code The name is the same name that you can place in the master Price Book item. In this way, when you select many items to bid, the Question names that are used by those items will be displayed for you to enter a value. Enter up to 8 characters to identify a short name for this Question. Use as short of name as possible, since these are the keystrokes you could enter in the quantity. For instance, use LF instead of Linear. If you enter $ or $$, it will not identified as a Question since you could place a value there and not really know what it is for.

Answer Enter a single value (memory), another Question's name or an equation (3+4/2). This is the value that will be used later. The equation will not be stored - just used in this calculation.

Description This gives a fuller explanation than just the Name.

Unit You should enter a "Unit of measure" such as, LF or SF to remind you how to answer the quantity. If the unit here does not match the unit in the Item, you will be warned by a message when you Use (pullback) the answer into the Item.
