How to Edit and Type

Mouse users:

When you first click in a field, the whole field is highlighted.

Note If you are going to enter a number in a number column, don’t click again in the field, just start entering "on top of" the highlight. If you click again in the field, you might get a number like, " 05 4" and this is invalid.

When you type a character, the rest of the field is erased since we assume that if you change the first character, the rest of the field will be replaced. However, if you want to start editing somewhere in the field then click again where you want to edit or use the Edit F2 Key.

Keyboard users:

Since most of the time you will be moving around the Lists in order to select and Use (Pullback) values, we elected to use the arrow keys for moving BETWEEN columns and not individual letters. Therefore, you need a way to change the arrow keys into editing keys so you can use them to move around INSIDE a column or field. By pressing the Edit key F2 on the very beginning letter of a field, you will not erase the field. Otherwise, by typing a letter over the top of the very first letter, we assume you want to erase the whole contents. If you do this by mistake, then just press the Restore key F4.

After you press the Edit key F2, you may use the END key, HOME key, the left and right arrow keys, the INS key (this toggles between insert and overwrite mode) and the DEL key to delete any letters.

To cancel all changes, press the ESC key or click on Undo under the Edit Menu.
