In order to correctly insert the records (lines) you have tagged, the system will try to place the tagged records (lines) into the first available block of unused code Code's.
The program inserts and automatically re-numbers the tagged records (lines) in the first available "block" (consecutive unused code Codes). The program looks for this block at the current line (where the cursor rests).
You may override this Code by typing in another Code. But understand that it may not insert with that Code first if there are not enough blank Codes to accommodate the number of records (lines) to be moved.
Important Note: In order to update costs in older bids, Item Codes are used. If you change the Item Codes in the master Price Book, then those items (or worse- wrong items with wrong prices) in ALL bids will not be updated correctly. Be very careful when changing ANY code numbers, including budgets, cost types, questions, etc. Also Super Assemblies, Work Packages, locations, etc.
