Change Totals Dialog

The Change Totals dialog box allows you to see the number, Total Cost, and Total Price of the Tagged, Shown and all Bid Items in your current Bid. You may also change the values of the totals, and have the changes reflected in only the Tagged Bid Items.

For instance, if you have $2000 worth of Bid Items tagged (that is, the Tagged Total Cost) and a Bid Total Cost of $10,000, and change the Bid Total Cost to $9,000, then the Tagged Total Cost must be reduced to $1,000 to absorb this change. Because $1000 is half of $2000, each of the Tagged Bid Items has its cost divided by two. The Tagged Total Cost must be large enough to cover any reductions made to the Bid Total Cost. (Otherwise, the Tagged Bid Items would have to have a negative cost!) If you wish to change all the Bid Items, just tag them all before entering the Change Totals dialog box. The same goes for changing Prices.

If you do not have any Bid Items tagged, you can still view the Bid and Shown Bid Item Totals in the Change Totals dialog, but you cannot change them. An appropriate message will be displayed in the dialog box.

If you are not in a find-and-show-only mode, the Shown Totals will be the same as the Bid Totals, and they cannot be changed in the dialog box.

Any changes you make to the totals are immediately shown in all the currently open windows, such as the Bid Item List and accumulator lists (such as the Division List). (You may have to move to Change Totals dialog by dragging on its title bar in order to see some of the windows.) These open windows can help to you see the effects of your change before committing to it. You should position windows so that all the totals you wish to see are visible on the screen before entering the Change Totals dialog; you cannot move or change which windows are visible once you are in a dialog box.

Any time before you leave the Change Totals dialog, you may press the Reset button to undo any changes you have made and start fresh with your original costs. This provides a powerful "what-if" capability.

To leave the Change Totals dialog box, press the OK button. If you have made any changes to the totals, you will be asked if you keep them. If you answer No, the Bid Items (and other lists) will be brought back to their original values, much as if you’d pressed the Reset button.
