In Estimating, an ITEM is the lowest level of cost in your Price Book representing anything that must be paid for to complete a job. You can set up a Price Book with Items in advance so that you may select Items to Use (transfer) to your bid. This will allow you to simply select Items, enter Bid Item Quantities and produce a bid with Extended Costs, and a final Bid Grand Total Price.
Item Code A decimal number with up to two digits (Division Code) to the left, a decimal, then one number (Subdivision Code within that Division), and the two last digits (a Item number within that Subdivision), i.e. 1.000 or 16.999. You may also increase these codes to 10 digits.
Item Description Use up to 75 characters to describe the item. The screen probably shows less and can be adjusted using the Column Sizing. During a report, the description will probably be truncated unless you have a wide carriage printer that can print in compressed mode.
