The New Bid dialog box allows you to create a New Bid. You may base this Bid on the any existing Bid in the same Price Book. You may also give the Bid a Code and Description if you want.
To create a new Bid:
1. Select New Bid... from the File menu to get to the New Bid dialog box.
2. If you want the Bid to work with a Price Book other than the current one shown, then click on the arrow box and select a different one.
3. Either type in the Code and Description for the new Bid. You do not have to enter a the Bid Code and Description here, but you must have a Code and Description for the Bid before saving it.
4. You can base the current Bid only an existing Bid, or start from a totally blank Bid. When you use an existing Bid as a basis or template for the new Bid, all the Bid Items, Markups and Question Answers (if applicable) from the Bid will be copied into your new Bid. Using template Bids can provide a standard starting point for your Markups amounts, and act as a checklist of commonly-used Bid Items. Any Bid can be used as a template. To use a Bid as a template, just type its Bid Code into the Based on Bid (Code): field, or click on the Bid in the Bids In (Price Book) list box.
5. Click on the OK button to create the new Bid, or the Cancel button to leave the dialog box and go back to your previous Bid.
Note that your new Bid will not appear in the Bid List until you have saved it the first time.
You may also create a new Bid by going to the Bid List, inserting a record, typing in the Bid Code and Description, and then pressing the Use F8 button. When you use this approach, however, you cannot specify what Bid you wish to base the new Bid on.
