Update Item Cost to/from the Price Book

This very powerful Dialog box lets you update the costs and other Item information from a Bid Item to your Price Book or Vice-versa.

Each item in your Price Book has costs attached to it. When you pull one of those items into your bid, the cost comes with it. When you change the cost of this item in the bid, it becomes Modified and the item in the Price Book is NOT updated. This is then a bid specific item.

Later, as you keep the Item’s cost in your Price Book current, you may update older costs in a bid by using your current cost in your master Price Book. This is done by matching the same Item Codes in the Price Book and the bid. (If you have changed the Item Codes in the Price Book by deleting, copying or moving them, then the update will not work.) First, select which bid items you want updated by Tagging them and then activate this Update selection in the Bid Menu.

You may also update information from your Bid to the Price Book. This is useful for building Items on-the-fly in your bid as you are bidding and then saving them to your Price Book for future selection.

The Bid Items always control which Items are to be used for updating. Tagging Price Book Items has no effect on which Items will be updated.

Direction left click to determine which way you want to go.

Which Items Using the Items in the Bid only, select which Items you want to use for updating. If you are going from the Price Book to the Bid, you may not want to update your Modified Items (the ones where you changed the cost). If so, do not place an X in the box.

Update What If you select "Whole" than the complete current Item will be overridden with the one being "Pulled in."
