The Save Item to Price Book feature, available from the Bid menu or using the shortcut key Ctrl+D, is used to transfer a custom item from your bid, back into your Price Book for later use. When you have customized an item, it becomes "bid specific". And if you change it's cost, it becomes Modified. A bid item will NOT be changed in your Master Price Book unless you press the Save <Ctrl+D> key.
Transferring the Item to the Price Book with the same Item Code
EasyEst Estimating will examine the Item Code in the bid and OVERWRITE the original item in your Price Book with the same Item Code.
Transferring the Item to the Price Book with a different Item Code
To save the new item to your Price Book for future bids, but not overwrite the original item, do the following: Change the Item Code. If you don’t know what number you want to use, then enter 0.000. This "special" code will not overwrite other 0.000's in the Price Book but will just add to them. At a later time you can go into the Price Book and change the 0.000 Item Codes to their correct Division/Subdivision Code.
Save Tagged to Price Book
If you want to save some bid items to your Price Book, the best way is to tag those items, go to the Tag Menu and select Put Tagged to Price Book.
Important Note:
You should save your Bid often by pressing the Save F12 key or click the left mouse button the File Menu and choose "Save".
