Assembly List

A Assemblies is a grouping of related Items for convenient selection. The Items assigned to a Assembly are from anywhere in the Price Book Item list, but are often from the same section of the plans and form a single construction system or Bid Item group (e.g., a slab containing concrete, polyethylene, wire mesh, and gravel; or a switch box containing the box, plate, and switch, etc.).

Assemblies speed up the bidding process by enabling you to transfer many Items by using Assemblies with a single quantity entry instead of one-by-one. A Assembly can also function as a checklist, to help prevent omissions.

Adding new Assemblies: You may add new Assemblies in the Assemblies List window, much like you would anywhere in the system, by typing into the Add New record, or doing an Insert Record. (To open the Assemblies List, select Assemblies from the Price Book menu.) You can enter a Code, Description, Unit, Question, and Location (if you have Locations). To assign Items to the Assembly, you must use the Assembly Builder, which can be quickly reached by pressing the Details F9 key, pressing the List button on the main toolbar, or from the F1 menu.

Costing: If you have just started a new Bid, there will not be any totals. If you have used some Assemblies, the total dollars for all the Bid Items which were in each Assembly will be displayed. You may want to change the total dollar amount of the Bid Items from a Assembly and all the Items in the Bid which relate to that Assembly will be adjusted proportionately.

Cross Reference. Using the Cross Reference feature, you can quickly locate all the Bid Items which belong to a given Assembly. Just highlight any Assembly with a dollar amount and select "Cross Reference" from the Tools menu. If you have Super Assemblies, you can also cross reference a Assembly to all the Super Assemblies that use that Assembly.
