A Assemblies is a grouping of master Price Book Items. By selecting Items using a Assembly, you can really speed up your bidding. All related Items in your Price Book will be presented at one time for your selection to go into the Bid.

Assemblies must be built before they can be used for Item Selection. Some Assemblies may already be pre-built for you in your Price Book. You can also add or change Assemblies at any time.

Bringing up the Assembly Selection window:

To get to the Assembly Selection mode of the Item Selection window, choose "Select Items by Assembly" from the Bid menu. The Item Selection window will appear, with the title "Item Selection: Assembly Selection." If you are already in the Item Selection window, you can also get to Assembly Selection from the Select button’s popup menu.

Selecting a Assembly to transfer Items to the Bid:

Assembly Selection works much like Item Selection, only instead of grouping Items by Division and Subdivision, Items are grouped by Assemblies, in other words, how they are used in relation to other Items. An Item may appear in many different Assemblies, and yet only be in a single Subdivision.

To select Items from a Assembly, click on a Assembly in the Assemblies list box in the upper-left-hand corner of the window. You will see the Items available in that Assembly in the upper-right-hand corner list box, where Price Book Items are on the Item Selection window. Only the Items which are assigned to the Assembly are shown. To change which Items are part of a Assembly, use the Assembly Builder.

In addition to the "Available Assembly Items" list just described, the Assembly Selection window features a "Assembly Items to be Transferred" list. This list contains the Items that are "usually" in the Assembly. If you want to use the Assembly with these Items, just press the Transfer button and all of those Items will be transferred to the Item Worksheet.

If you don't want to use an Item in the "Items to be Transferred" list, click on it and then press the "Don’t Transfer this Item" button. You can also add an Item to this list by clicking on an Item in the "Available Assembly Items" window and then pressing the "Copy this Item" button. When you have all the Items you wish to use in the "Items to be Transferred" list, press the "Transfer" button to move them to the Item Worksheet. Any changes made to the "Items to be Transferred" list is only for this use of the Assembly; they do not effect the Assembly in the Price Book. However, the changes will remain after you have pressed the Transfer button, so that you can select another similarly-customized Assembly. If go to a different Assembly in Assembly Selection and then come back to a previously-customized Assembly, the "Assembly Items to be Transferred" list will be reset to the way it was in the Price Book. To change the Price Book Assembly Items defaults, use the Assembly Builder.

As with Item Selection, you may fill in many Quantities or Locations at once. Some Assemblies have a default Location provided with them. If so, when you select the Assembly, that default Location is filled in. Otherwise, whatever Location you used for the previous Assembly is retained.

You may select many different Assemblies into the Item Worksheet without first moving the Worksheet Items to the Bid. (Of course, you can move the Worksheet Items to the Bid at any time by pressing the "Move to Bid" button.) You may even change to Item Selection or other Item Selection modes, and move the Worksheet Items to the Bid later.
